Mehlville School District Mission Statement: The mission of the Mehlville School District is to ensure that all students reach their potential by preparing them to be lifelong learners and responsible citizens through a dynamic curriculum, student-centered instruction, a safe and nurturing environment and community collaboration.
Bierbaum Accelerated School Vision Statement: In the Bierbaum Accelerated School, all students excel to their highest potential in a welcoming, enthusiastic, positive environment. Through relationships among all members of the Bierbaum Accelerated School community, students succeed in becoming productive, creative citizens.
Building and Facilities: Bierbaum was built in 1962 and was named after a former Mehlville superintendent, Kermit Bierbaum. The school is the largest elementary facility in the district. It is entirely handicapped-accessible, either by ramp or by elevator. Located at the northern end of the district, Bierbaum's spacious campus includes a soccer field and 2 large playgrounds. The building offers large classrooms, in addition to an art room, music room, gym, library and a recently expanded cafeteria.
Public School Choice: Under the Federal No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB), this option is available to all parents whose child attends a Title I school in School Improvement the first year and every year the building is in School Improvement status.
